Both versions work the same way: the same views, groups, controls, and backups. They are separate packages, though, each with its own Manager, Community folder, and data. Install the one that names your simulator — copying a package across does not work.
MSFS 2024 adds:
- Airport and world lists with runways, gates, parking, viewpoints, and traffic cameras
- Spotting — nearby traffic with filters, aircraft details, and tracking
- Companion — a browser Remote UI for cameras and controls on a second screen
- Automatic updates for both the package and the Manager
It drops one thing: VR is not supported. The ChasePlane overlay stays hidden while MSFS 2024 is in VR. MSFS 2020 does support VR — see Known limitations first.
Install each with its matching Manager. Their data is kept apart, so a view you save in one does not appear in the other.

The MSFS 2024 Manager copies your MSFS 2020 setup on first install, but only into an empty library.

If a version is missing from your Downloads, your order may not include it.
Quick troubleshooting
Confirm the Manager title names the simulator you intend to use. Launch that simulator at least once, close it, then run the Manager again.
Verify you used the matching Manager, and that it targeted the Community folder for the simulator you launched.
Migration is skipped when the MSFS 2024 library is not empty. Keep both folders and move your views across with Move to MSFS 2024.
