This article covers the following platforms

Before you buy

ChasePlane extends the simulator’s camera system in ways that expose some simulator bugs and technical limitations. Simulator and ChasePlane updates may add or remove items from this list.

Limitations by simulator

Choose your simulator to see only the limitations that apply to it.

VR

Not supported. You may encounter issues if you use ChasePlane in VR.

Night vision goggles

Not supported. ChasePlane cannot currently render night vision goggles or other post-processing views provided by some MSFS 2024 aircraft.

Copilot avatar clipping

The copilot remains visible when the camera moves into the copilot’s body. Move copilot views forward to avoid clipping until the simulator issue is resolved.

Depth of field

World views only. Depth of field cannot currently be activated in cockpit views. We are looking to expand support in a future update.

VR

Supported with limitations:

  1. Mouse-cursor depth can appear incorrect in the right eye when the cockpit view is moved from the default pilot position. We are working to resolve this.
  2. The mouse cannot pan or tilt the camera. Use control assignments instead while we continue researching support.
  3. Smart View does not work in VR. We are working to resolve this.
  4. Panels cannot appear in external or world views. This is a simulator limitation and also occurs without ChasePlane.

Depth of field

World views only. Depth of field cannot currently be activated in cockpit views. We are looking to expand support in a future update.

Tobii Eye Tracker

Experimental support. Tobii support is currently available on the Experimental branch and will move to the Stable branch in a future update.

Limitations in both simulators

Flashlight

ChasePlane uses its own flashlight because it cannot use the simulator’s default flashlight. Assign a ChasePlane control to toggle it. The flashlight cannot be activated above 15 knots.

Default replay system

Camera movement is unavailable during replay. The simulator disables all camera variables while its replay system—or an add-on based on it, such as GEES—is active.

Consider SkyDolly or FlightControlReplay instead.

Xbox controller as primary flight controls

ChasePlane cannot switch one Xbox controller between aircraft and camera control. If you fly or drive with an Xbox controller, use a second controller for camera and drone controls.

Checklist camera movement

Selecting an item in the built-in checklist cannot move the camera to that item while ChasePlane controls the camera.
