This article covers the following platforms

Everything happens in Preferences → Backups, through ZIP export and import. Do not copy files out of ChasePlane’s internal data folders.

What do you want to do?

  1. Load a flight and open ChasePlane from the simulator toolbar.
  2. Open Preferences, then find Backups.
  3. Choose an export:
    • Export [aircraft name] creates a ZIP for the aircraft currently loaded.
    • Manual Export Everything creates a ZIP of your complete library, including settings, views, and groups.
  4. Choose where to save the ZIP.
  5. Keep ChasePlane open until the export reports Export Completed!

Exports do not include activation or cloud-sync working files, so you may still need to activate ChasePlane on the destination PC.

  1. Install and activate ChasePlane on the destination PC.
  2. Load a flight, then open ChasePlane → Preferences → Backups.
  3. If ChasePlane already holds views you want to keep, create a fresh Manual Export Everything first.
  4. Select Manual Import and choose the ChasePlane ZIP.
  5. Choose how the archive applies:
    • Add to existing keeps the current library and skips anything ChasePlane identifies as already present.
    • Replace everything clears the current aircraft, world, and group view libraries first. Settings in an Everything export can replace the current settings too.
  6. Keep ChasePlane open until the import reports Import Completed!

The MSFS 2024 installer includes a one-time migration of existing MSFS 2020 configuration data.

  1. In ChasePlane for MSFS 2020, create a Manual Export Everything as a safety copy.
  2. Install ChasePlane for MSFS 2024 before creating views or changing settings in the 2024 edition.
  3. During post-install setup, the installer copies the MSFS 2020 configuration — but only while the MSFS 2024 data folder is empty.
  4. Start MSFS 2024 and confirm your views and settings are present.

Automatic Cloud Backups keeps your views and groups synchronized with the Parallel 42 cloud and enables community sharing. Wait until Backups reports Synced before leaving the source PC.

Cloud sync is a second layer, not a replacement for a ZIP. When moving PCs, keep a ZIP as well: it gives you an offline copy, and it lets you choose between adding to or replacing the destination library.
